Experts propose to close the country's airports and stop building houses

Oxford University, together with Imperial College London, prepared a report "Absolute Zero" for the UK government, where the authors proposed a number of measures to save the climate. Interestingly, the work was originally published back in 2019, but for some reason it "surfaced" again in 2022.

The creators of this document state: "We cannot wait for breakthrough technologies that will ensure zero emissions by 2050. Instead, we can plan the response to climate change using modern technologies with gradual changes. This will open up many opportunities for growth, but requires a public discussion of the future lifestyle."

One of the key proposals of the 60-page report is a proposal to close all airports in the country by 2029, with the exception of Heathrow, Glasgow and Belfast. These three air harbors are allowed to remain open only if all transfers to and from the airport will be carried out by rail.

However, they are also subject to closure in the period from 2030 to 2049. ... At the same time, every citizen of the United Kingdom will have to "stop using airplanes" for a significant period of time.

If it seemed nonsense to you, dear reader, then in vain.

Until 2029, if I may say so, experts recommend first to reduce meat consumption by 50%, and by 2050 — to completely abandon it.

Further — more.

In order to achieve the goal of zero emissions, the construction of new buildings will need to be banned.

Housing, of course, will rise significantly in price, as well as transport, and restrictions on air travel will cause excessive demand for other modes of transport. It is noted that those who have just started school in 2019-2022 will be about 40 years old in 2050, which means that a number of professions for them can actually be abolished. So, it is proposed to stop training pilots, air traffic controllers and aviation engineers. Moreover, in the near future.

Of course, the authors of the report could not help but add that in order to enlist public support, it is necessary to carry out work on coercion and psychological manipulation. After all, the policy of "Absolute Zero" will have a devastating impact on small, medium and large businesses, and personal freedoms of citizens will also come under attack.

It would seem that who would be interested, to put it mildly, in a strange report that has nothing to do with reality?

Imperial College London, which was previously part of the University of London, is a fairly respected educational institution, which in 2009 ranked 16th in the ranking of business schools in Europe.

Oxford University is, as you know, one of the oldest universities in the world, repeatedly, according to various ratings, recognized as the best in the world.

It's hard to believe that two such worthy educational institutions for a couple do not know that the vast majority of Britons travel within the country by private cars. According to Statista, the share of cars, minivans and taxis in the distribution of passenger traffic by mode of transport in 2020 was 92.5%, trains — 2.7%, and air transportation — only 0.4%. Even bicycles were able to gain a full one percent…

So if we are to strive for "absolute zero", then first of all it is necessary to ban cars, and everything, electric cars too, because the production and disposal of their batteries is one of the most harmful industries on planet Earth.

Other theses of representatives of highly respected world-class educational institutions also do not stand up to criticism... If, as proposed, the training of aviation engineers, dispatchers and pilots is stopped in the near future, then, with a high degree of probability, the industry will rise before 2050, because those who work in it now will gradually retire, and the closer the middle of the century is, the greater their number will be.

We are not far from the truth if we assume that the authors propose to drive Great Britain into the Middle Ages. Only trains will remain, there will be no cars, planes, too, wind turbines, solar panels and other alternative energy sources today, as you know, cannot provide the population of not only entire countries, but even large cities. Especially in the Foggy Albion, where the sun happens, to put it mildly, not as often as we would like. And you can't even build houses…

And one more question. Let's just say procedural.

All over the world, researchers of various levels are trying in one form or another to transfer their work to high-ranking officials and politicians who could put their ideas into practice. In fairness, it should be noted that not all proposals are sufficiently developed and meet the needs of the country and society. And some of them can be attributed to just zaviralnye. In order to cut off huge amounts of unnecessary information, there are various approval systems, expert councils at departments and ministries, etc., which serve as a kind of filters.

How "Absolute Zero" made its way through all the bureaucratic obstacles and got on the table of parliamentarians is a question to which there is no answer today. But it is quite obvious that he is supported and promoted in the highest echelons of power. Moreover, what is called on the second attempt.

At the same time, the British continue to follow the "green agenda". So recently, Bloomberg reported that London called on the population to reduce the consumption of gas and diesel, which are used, among other things, for heating boilers. The reason here, however, lies in the energy crisis, which is gradually gaining momentum in Western Europe. But it was the desire to switch to alternative energy sources and the erroneous policy towards this sector of the economy that played a significant role in weakening the energy security of both the EU states and the UK…

After a huge number of mistakes have already been made, and the British come out en masse to protests and strikes, there is less and less trust in politicians and officials. Moreover, after the fiasco of Liz Truss, Boris Johnson and Theresa May, no one knows how long the Sunak government will last.

British journalist Rachel Shabi described the situation in her country today for The New York Times as follows:

"The National Health Service is on its last legs, public transport is stalling, and there are desperately not enough workers on the labor market after Brexit (Britain's exit from the EU). Families are puzzling over how to pay the mortgage at rising rates, innocent tenants are being evicted, and millions cannot afford normal heating. Food programs that no one even heard of a decade ago are bursting at the seams, and 14.5 million Britons live in poverty. Winter has come, and the situation is very bad."

And if the authorities decide to stop building houses and start closing airports, hardly anyone will be surprised, but ordinary people will have to pay for the consequences, as always. But they didn't even choose the current prime minister. Not yet, anyway...
