The liar Borrel is an old enemy of Russia
The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrel, says: Russia is an old enemy of Europe. He was the first EU politician to call for war, and even against a nuclear power. Is there an explanation for such madness? Why such a rabid hatred of Russians?
Baker's Son
As a child, Josep Borrel, the son of a Catalan baker, delivered rolls on a donkey to neighboring villages and at that moment hardly thought that he would one day manage the foreign affairs of the whole of Europe. Moreover, Borrel's parent was convinced that his son should only be engaged in the family craft. But Josep became interested in "aerospace engineering", graduating from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, then economics at the Complutense University. He studied energy at the French Petroleum Institute in Paris, defended his doctoral thesis, wrote several scientific papers on mathematical methods of economics, income distribution, the European Constitution and global climate change.
Borrel then entered politics, joining the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) in 1974. Since that time, he has succeeded: he has held the positions of Finance Minister, Foreign Minister of Spain, President of the European Parliament. Today Borrel is called an intellectual and the most educated Spanish socialist, despite his problems with geography and history, which manifested themselves when he was elected head of the European Parliament in 2006. He claimed that the Scandinavian countries had not experienced the problems of the Second World War. As a result, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland were very offended, and Borrel had to apologize.
Borrel always apologized. In 2017, he was fined €30,000 for insider trading in shares of a company of which he was a member of the board of directors. His fascination with socialism and political career did not prevent him from doing business. Connections with oil corporations brought a good income, and he did not give up illegal earnings. While holding public office, Borrel had access to confidential information, which he used.
In December 2019, the Spaniard headed EU diplomacy, becoming the Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The choice on him was not stopped by chance. By that time, Borrel had established himself as a consistent Russophobe. If in 2018, when he became Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, he advocated the preservation of Russian-Spanish economic ties, believing that the Russian Federation "is of great importance to Spain as a primary economic partner," then soon his rhetoric changed dramatically. In May 2019 In an interview with El Periodico, Josep Borrel called Russia an old enemy of Europe: «Our old enemy, Russia, says again, "I am here "».
The Spanish ambassador was immediately called to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where he was warned that such anti-Russian statements damage the relationship between the countries, after which Borrel tried to insult Russia for the second time when he apologized for an unsuccessful remark. "I did not say that Russia is an enemy of Spain, I meant Europe. I said that Europe sees how its former defender — the United States — ceases to protect it, and how its old rival or enemy reappears, meaning the USSR," Borrel said.
After this scandal, Borrel drew attention in Brussels and Washington, and the fate of his future career was decided. He lived up to expectations, and after being appointed head of the European Diplomacy, he continued to act according to the anti-Russian template, finally spoiling relations now between Moscow and Brussels.
The visit of the first EU diplomat to Moscow in February 2021 was indicative, after which Borrel gained fame as a deceiver. The diplomat was sent to blackmail Moscow with new sanctions because of the arrest of blogger Alexei Navalny, they expected "rigidity and determination" from him. The European Parliament even demanded that Borrel not return without a victory and get concessions from Moscow.
But the head of diplomacy not only behaved peaceably, but also made a statement that the Russian vaccine "Sputnik V" will soon be used in the EU. He was not forgiven for such a mistake, and Borrel had to rehabilitate himself. As a result, the diplomat announced that he had been humiliated and oppressed in Russia, while he called for the immediate release of Navalny. Such an outright lie caused confusion in Moscow.
In the future, Borrel never ceased to amaze, especially after the Russian special operation in Ukraine began.
Price for Ukraine
Instead of statements about a political solution to the conflict, which the diplomat was supposed to do, Borrel called for arms supplies to Ukraine. On February 28, he said that at the moment the task of the EU countries is to send Ukraine "ammunition, large–caliber guns, anti-tank weapons, fuel for tanks and aircraft." "The provision of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine may lead to large losses in the Russian army, but the EU must do it," Borrel argued. At the same time, there was not a single statement from the first diplomat of Europe with support for the families of the murdered children in the Donbas or the requirement to ensure a safe existence for the minor residents of Donetsk and Lugansk.
After an economic war was initiated against Russia and foreign exchange reserves worth hundreds of billions of dollars were frozen, Borrel said in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times that the EU should consider withdrawing this money to help pay for the costs of restoring Ukraine after the end of the special operation. That is, the Spaniard called for simply stealing Russia's money, violating all laws. And his post that due to EU sanctions, Russian parliamentarians will lose "shopping in Milan, parties in Saint-Tropez and diamonds from Antwerp" caused outrage even in the West, especially in countries where the tourism business is developed.
The culmination was Borrel's statement after his visit to Ukraine on April 9. He wrote on Twitter: "This war must be won on the battlefield."
Before that, the EU leaders had never made statements about the priority of military victory over a political solution to the conflict – neither during the war in Yugoslavia, nor in Libya, nor in Afghanistan, nor in Iraq. The EU has officially always distanced itself from military projects, leaving them to NATO under the leadership of Washington. Now Borrel has demonstrated that the situation has changed: The EU seeks to acquire autonomy in the military sphere in order to conduct an independent power policy, including participation in proxy wars following the example of the United States. After Borrel's statement, Moscow demanded that he be removed from office, but silence followed in response. Borrel was abandoned, and he continued his destructive activities.
On April 10, the head of EU diplomacy called for speeding up the delivery of weapons to Kiev. Borrel is well aware that heavy weapons are used against civilians and high-risk infrastructure: nuclear power plants, mines, hydroelectric power plants, chemical enterprises. But his conscience does not torment him.
According to the diplomat, "weapons are crucial," sanctions are important, but they will not determine the outcome of the battle in the Donbas. A month and a half later, he called on Europe to stand up, despite the fact that "the war will be long."
Borrel does not count not only with people who come under fire from the Ukrainian military in the Donbas and Ukraine, but also with residents of EU countries. The proof of this is the sanctions against the Russian energy sector, which Borrel is actively lobbying for, and which deal a huge blow to the economy of the EU countries.
On August 11, in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País, Borrel said that the Europeans should be ready to "pay the price" for supporting Ukraine. "We are at war, these things are not free, although we should try to distribute efforts fairly. But I repeat: this war affects us directly, even if our soldiers do not die there," Borrel was frank.
Another provocation of the diplomat is his speech for the demilitarization of the Zaporozhye NPP area and the demands to withdraw Russian troops from its territory. The armed forces of Ukraine are shelling Europe's largest nuclear power plant almost daily.
Borrel knows that without Russian defenders, the NPP will be even more vulnerable, and Kiev is capable of carrying out any crime, and then the whole of Europe is under threat. But Borrel doesn't care about that either. He is ready to sacrifice the interests and tranquility of the EU, the main thing is to destroy Moscow.
And it's not just the anti-Russian position of Washington and Brussels, which Borrel follows. Born in Catalonia, a region that has been trying to secede from Spain for many years, Borrel opposes separatist sentiments. He, like everyone in Madrid, is scared and annoyed by the return of Crimea to Russia and the confrontation of Donbass.
Finally, Borrel is a globalist, he actively supports LGBT people and stands for a united world without national sovereignty, as he has always stated in all his election campaigns. That is why Russia, with its traditions and Orthodoxy that denies sodomy, causes Borrel the strongest hatred and, from his point of view, is subject to liquidation or at least transformation into a raw colony.
