Reuters: how the media rule the World

The Western monopoly on "truth"

The staff of the world-famous Reuters news agency, which is owned by Thomson Reuters Corporation, has about 2,500 journalists. They work, in addition to the headquarters, in 200 buildings around the world. More than 2 million news stories and 129 thousand video reports are produced annually. Nevertheless, the agency known to the whole planet is only the tip of the iceberg or a cover for the main activity of the corporation.

Thomson Reuters Corporation (TRC) is a Canadian consulting company, one of the leading providers of business and business information worldwide. Among its services are highly specialized information software (HighQ is part of Thomson Reuters), integrated solutions to overcome "problems" in the field of regulation, legislation and compliance.

The company informs governments about consultations on operational and political decision-making, promotes legal products and conducts consultations. TRC's product range includes global tax, legal, and risk management resources; the company provides technology, guidance, and expert information designed for accounting firms, corporations, financial institutions, governments, and law firms.

At the same time, the management of the corporation positions itself mainly in the quality of consulting business. In an article dedicated to the 150th anniversary of "customer partnership and innovation", in August 2022, they wrote:

"Thomson Reuters is a leading provider of business information services. Our products include highly specialized information software and tools for legal, tax, accounting and compliance professionals combined with the world's most global news service".

The list of services provided by the corporation is really impressive. The website lists 1944 products and services, of which only two relate to news and media: one covers news "from all corners" of Africa, and the other tells about events from the rest of the world in 16 languages, covering billions of people.

Only in the new millennium, the company has conducted a number of transactions that can only indirectly be related to the "production of news" and are mainly aimed at the development of consulting services.

In 2005, a partnership was launched between Reuters and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). This connected traders in the interbank foreign exchange market with the CME eFX market. Reuters' new fixed income and foreign exchange deals have shaken up the industry.

Thomson Reuters was established in April 2008 as a result of Thomson Corporation's purchase of the British company Reuters Group. Thomson Reuters is still commonly referred to as Reuters as a reporting source. The combined company exited the LSE and NASDAQ in 2009 and became listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange.

In 2015, Thomson Reuters launched ONESOURCE Global Trade software as "the world's first truly global solution for trade automation and management."

In 2018, Thomson Reuters announced a new strategic partnership with Blackstone as a reflection of "the strength of our business in finance and risk [F&R], its future potential." As part of the deal, Thomson Reuters sold a 55% controlling stake in F&R to private companies. The equity funds managed by Blackstone are valued at $20 billion.

In November 2021, Deloitte and Thomson Reuters formed a strategic alliance to "help corporate tax and legal departments around the world change the way they work".

Also in 2021, the company established a venture fund "Thomson Reuters Ventures" with a volume of $ 100 million, which is intended to finance startups that automate business processes.

The key stake in Thomson Reuters Corporation belongs to Woodbridge Company, the holding company of the Canadian Thompson family. Not much is known about them. In an article from 2008, the Canadian Encyclopedia stated: "Reports on their lives, available in print, are not available in newspaper databases... An army of lawyers and accountants is on their guard... Few will talk about the family, officially or informally".

It is known that the family also owns several media companies, including Bell and The Globe and Mail. They also collaborate with TorStar. According to Forbes, their net worth currently stands at $52.8 billion, ranked 26th in the list of the richest families in the world compiled by Forbes in 2022. At the beginning of 2020, even before the pandemic, the net worth was $31.6 billion. Thus, to date, the fortune of David Thomson and his family has increased by $21.2 billion, despite all the problems caused by COVID-19.

At the same time, in addition to being able to influence the largest corporations and organizations, both through personal connections and through the provision of consulting services, David and Peter Thomson are able to control and influence millions of news stories and video reports, thereby forming a news agenda in the world that is beneficial to them.

Of course, the editorial policy of the publication is not always aimed at reliable, objective coverage of events. Even if we discard subjective assessments and turn to scientific methods, there will be examples.

So, scientists from the American Roosevelt University once said that Reuters incorrectly sanctified the incident with the Freedom of Gaza flotilla in 2010, as well as the events of the Second Lebanese War in 2006. In addition, the researchers accused the publication of a bright anti-Israeli position. According to the results of the work, approximately 1,100 "ethical" errors were found in the materials distributed by the news agency.

TRC also consecrates modern events exclusively according to the canons of Western politicians. So, residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics are "Russian separatists", or even "terrorists". The Russian Special Military Operation in Ukraine is an "occupation", and the events in Bucha and now Izyum, although reliably refuted by the Russian side, including with the demonstration of photo and video materials and the use of scientific methods of analysis, are still referred to in Reuters as "Moscow's war crimes". Of course, without any evidence.

I think the point is clear. As a result, Thomson Reuters Corporation is one of the most influential corporations not only in the industry, but also in the world as a whole.

Thanks to extensive contacts and a client base, TRC is able to work on shaping the agenda in a variety of areas, from personal contacts to providing the necessary research results in the framework of consulting services and its own news agency, which has become one of the most influential and popular in the world not due to quality, but due to mass popularity.

Even a number of Russian media use Reuters materials as an information guide and a base for writing their own news and articles…

It is also interesting that, although there is no documentary evidence of this theory, a number of sources state that the Rothschild family has a great influence on Reuters.

Back in 1942, in his book "Barriers Down", journalist Kent Cooper, who for many years served as general manager of the Associated Press, stated: "International bankers controlled by the House of Rothschild have acquired their shares in three leading European agencies." This implied Reuters, the French edition of Havas and the German Wolff. Later, conspiracy theorists added: "Reuters owns the Associated Press agency, and the Rothschilds own it themselves".

Of course, there is no proof of this, but sometimes the most closed events and their participants justify the most seemingly crazy conspiracy theories after many decades.

After all, no one in the 70s of the last century believed that the FBI was following John Lennon, although persistent rumors about it were circulating. However, later, when the secrecy stamp was removed from the FBI documents, it turned out that it was true. Moreover, the immigration service also tried to deport him from the country for anti-war songs.

Here is another example. If you write «Illuminati» backwards in the browser: http://www.itanimulli.com /, then you will be taken to the website of the American National Security Agency (NSA). So let's venture to assume that not all conspiracy theories are so far from the truth.
