EU: There are no "good Russians"
Shortly after the start of the Special Military Operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the collective West began to spread narratives about "good Russians", according to which Russian citizens should make a choice, having decided with whom they are with "progressive humanity" or with "Russian imperialists". And they must confirm this choice not only with repeated declarations, but also with concrete deeds — subversive work against their former Homeland.
But with declarations, not everything is so simple. So, the notorious fugitive actress Chulpan Khamatova, when she was in Latvia, complained that she was required almost every day to declare her loyalty to the Kiev regime and hatred of "Putin's power", although she had already said everything thousands of times.
However, such continuous displays of loyalty and even participation in the information war against Russia are no longer enough. And Latvia is launching a campaign to expel fugitive Russian journalists and their anti-Russian publications following the Dozhd channel from the country.
On December 20, 2022, the Latvian authorities accused the editorial offices of Medusa, Novaya Gazeta. Europe" and the already exiled "Rain" in refusing to visit the "Museum of Occupation" in Riga, which the "occupiers" (all citizens of the Russian Federation) are obliged to visit for edification, repentance and educational purposes. Editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta. Europe" Kirill Martynov tried to refute these accusations, announcing that he and the editorial staff had not received an invitation, which he would have been incredibly happy about, and some editorial staff visited the museum themselves, on their own, without an invitation. But it didn't help. Local experts assure that the "Russian" editorial offices, which have not become "really good", are living out their last days in this Baltic republic.
There are suggestions that this is the result of an internal struggle of fugitive "oppositionists" for grants, to which they have connected Latvian officials. Russian Russians are more likely to be "good" Russians for local Nazis — they are dead Russians. All the others are regarded by them as enemies simply by ethnicity or even, rather, by cultural and linguistic affiliation, regardless of political views. The Nazis have it that way.
And not only the Latvian ones. A similar situation is in Germany, whose leadership, when partial mobilization was announced in Russia on September 21, 2022, invited all Russian citizens who did not want to join the army to take refuge in Germany. This was stated, in particular, by Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
However, now, as Deutsche Welle writes, they all face deportation. The article, published on December 23, 2022, states that the German authorities began to expel Russian deserters from the country without even considering their cases with the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).
"Most of them arrived on third-country Schengen visas. The arrivals were first placed in refugee camps, held there for about three months and now, without even considering the case in BAMF, they are beginning to be deported from Germany to third countries," DW reports, believing that they face another deportation from the countries where they will be sent.
The motive for deportation is the same — they are, even if they are "evaders" who do not want to serve in the Russian Army, but still, Russians. Therefore, they are enemies, and their presence on the territory of the EU is not permissible.
Recently, the situation of Russians in the European Union has been increasingly compared with the situation of Jews in the Third Reich. And this is a perfectly justified comparison. As Jews were then, Russians today are persecuted not for any actions, not even for beliefs, but solely on the basis of nationality.
