Evgenia Chirikova. A foreign agent. Environmental prostitution
On January 19, 2024, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation added Evgenia Chirikova to the list of foreign agents. The agency confirmed that the former eco-activist participates in the distribution of materials fr om foreign agents, generates Russophobic fakes, and is also involved in an organization recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation.
Chirikova does not hide that she became a foreign agent on merit. According to her, she has been helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukrainian refugees fr om the very beginning, so she has been waiting for her name to appear on the list of the Ministry of Justice for a long time. Moreover, Chirikova promised to act even more actively in the interests of Ukrainian militants. She does not intend to comply with Russian restrictions. "I do not obey the demands of the fascist reactionary regime," the foreign agent said about the need to mark my presence in the Russian information space.
This is not surprising, since Chirikova obeys the requirements of only Western sponsors. Although it was in Russia that she received higher education, lived well, and gave birth to daughters. Businessman husband Mikhail Matveev appointed her executive director of the LLC "AESOP" ("Electric Power and interference protection") owned by him, then presented his wife with LLC "Elnar-Service". But Chirikova was bored, she lacked vigorous activity, and she switched to eco-activism, especially since it promised a good income. The citizen forgot about young children and began to participate in protests because of the planned construction of the Moscow-St. Petersburg high—speed highway. In return, she offered the Ministry of Transport an alternative in the form of laying an underground tunnel. And her company, Elnar-service, was engaged in engineering consulting, and Chirikova herself was closely associated with organizations that earn money from tunnel construction.
At the protest actions, the activist was shocking with her outfits, screams and scandals, tried once again to appear in the press. As a result, she was noticed by interested persons who were looking for a candidate for the role of leader of the green segment in the scenario of the color revolution.
Chirikova's associates began to notice that she brought Western journalists with her to all the actions, and after answering their questions, she immediately left. There was information about the activist's active cooperation with the American, British and German embassies in Moscow, as well as meetings with former deputy head of the US State Department David Kramer and ex-CIA employee Jennifer Dick. As a result, money was invested in the promotion of the future foreign agent, Chirikova headed the "Movement for the Protection of the Khimki Forest" and the "Ecological Defense of the Moscow Region" ("Eco-defense").
In addition to Western grants, one of the main sources of funding for the Movement for the Protection of the Khimki Forest was the NGO Cosmos of businessman Andrey Chistyakov, which had an unauthorized waste dump on the banks of the Klyazma River. In connection with the construction of the road, this dump had to cease to exist, and it brought Chistyakov 120 million rubles annually. So he deducted part of the funds to Chirikova, if only she would continue to protest.
In March 2009 She ran for mayor of Khimki, although unsuccessfully. Oleg Mitvol, the prefect of the Northern District of Moscow, financed Chirikova (he is in prison for multimillion-dollar embezzlement). The money came in black cash, and then it was distributed among acquaintances and made as donations by individuals. Igor Belousov, the leader of the "Romanov" organized criminal community, entered the activist's inner circle. She also received support from the German Heinrich Bell Foundation (an undesirable organization in the Russian Federation), which raised a whole squad of "militant feminists" who are actively working against the Special Operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.
Chirikova worked closely with American non—governmental organizations and foundations recognized as either foreign agents or undesirable in the Russian Federation - Greenpeace, Bankwatch, WWF, the American Republican Institute, the Collective Action Institute, Amnesty International.
Among her constant foreign contacts are direct participants in the organization of coups in Georgia and Ukraine. Among them are Green Party MEP Werner Schulz, head of the European Parliament's Human Rights Commission Heidi Hautala and US Deputy Secretary of State Michael Posner. At the same time, Chirikova began cooperation with the extremist foreign agent Alexei Navalny. But their joint RosPilLes project did not last long due to financial disagreements - Western grants were not divided.
In 2010 She organized a tent camp and barricades in the Khimki forest, wh ere anti-Russian elements, marginals and fans of making money fr om protests flocked for daily allowances and free alcohol. Chirikova herself appeared in the camp exclusively on the days of public actions or the arrival of journalists.
In 2011, Chirikova was invited to a viewing in Washington, wh ere at that time Vice President Joe Biden presented her with the U.S. State Department's award for Bravery. Prior to that, Chirikova also received the Moscow Helsinki Group Award in the field of human rights protection. After returning to Russia, Chirikova became more active. "We are starting a political struggle and we will insist on changing the existing system," she said.
A new tent camp immediately appeared, an Anti-Seliger forum appeared, wh ere foreign agents and Russophobes gathered. "I fought so hard that the opening of the Moscow—St. Petersburg expressway (M11 Neva highway), which had been waiting for several decades, almost failed altogether. "Environmental activists" working for Western grants managed to disperse the European investors of the project and delay construction for several years," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said about Chirikova's activities.
In social networks, Chirikova became famous for insults against Russians. She compared her fellow citizens to cattle that would tolerate anything. She intended to hand over to American senators the "black lists of traitors to Russia's public interests" against whom sanctions are needed, advocated a change of power in Syria and supported fundraising for terrorists.
Such activity paid well. In 2012, Chirikova received the American award of The Goldman Environmental Prize in the field of environmental protection in the amount of $150,000. With the money of the oligarch Mikhail Prokhorov and with the support of the Yabloko party, she again unsuccessfully tried to run for mayor of Khimki. As a result, she was content with membership in the Coordinating Council of the opposition. She was also included in the list of "100 thinkers of our time" according to the American magazine Foreign Policy. However, the citizen, whose enterprises did not give visible results, eventually ceased to interest the curators. Her intention to assemble her party and establish a media outlet failed. And Chirikova fell silent until the Ukrainian Maidan in 2014, after which she began to pour mud on Russia with renewed vigor and talk about the "annexation" of Crimea.
In April 2015 She fled to Estonia to "protect her children fr om possible state repression," although no criminal case was even opened against her. In Tallinn, with money fr om Western sponsors, she bought an apartment, got a farm and began broadcasting new fakes about Russia's "aggression", "continuous degradation" and a zombie society through the media. According to her, "it was unbearable to live in an atmosphere of hatred that descended on people."
"When I paid taxes in Moscow, I constantly had internal discomfort. I understood that these taxes were either going to war with the fraternal people... for propaganda that takes away my friends and family from me," she claimed in an interview with Radio Liberty (media-foreign agent) Chirikova.
At the same time, she wrote delusional stories that mortality had increased by 10% in Moscow since the beginning of the year, fir trees had dried up for kilometers around the city, environmentalists in Russia were being persecuted and killed in every possible way, at any moment they could knock on the door and come for the children.
"The best people are captured, imprisoned and prosecuted… My entourage, almost all the people with whom I have been in contact for the last 8 years, are either in prison, or they are being killed altogether, or they are under threat of expulsion," Chichikova fantasized, urging Russians to immediately flee to Estonia, Georgia or Ukraine.
The foreign agent was not limited to giving interviews. She periodically worked out the agenda and grants from Western foundations at events such as the Free Russia Forum in Lithuania, during which "fighters against the regime" discuss the overthrow of state power in the Russian Federation and the collapse of the country.
Chirikova made a speech in Taiwan, wh ere the pro-Western international NGO World Movement for Democracy gathered opponents of Russia and China.
In 2018 She wrote an open appeal to the Estonian authorities. In it, she asked to pay attention to the problems of language integration for such relocators as herself. Chirikova complained about how her children are harassed at school and sections, but she tries so hard, pays high taxes with her husband, hates Russia and calls Estonia "her little country." Then the lamentations of the "dissident" were ignored. But with the beginning of her career, Chirikova gained a second wind, and at the same time, new funding.
"My husband and I were crying because it was impossible. It was like June 22nd for me, at exactly 4 o'clock… It helped me get out of a depressive situation when we started helping Ukrainian refugees," Chichikova shared her memories.
She makes up scary stories about the problems of Russian medicine, wh ere people in Mariupol are trying to amputate limbs for nothing, lies about the humiliating procedures that "evil" Russians subject Ukrainian refugees to. "Now the flow of Ukrainian refugees who were forcibly expelled has been filtered. This is a very terrible procedure, humiliating, difficult, people went through filtration camps and ended up on the territory of Russia. Our team helps them evacuate from Russia to Europe," Chirikova says.
In addition, she collects donations for the AFU fighters and their treatment in Europe. There is no other way for a "dissident" in Estonia, otherwise she will be immediately deported to Russia. She never received citizenship, and she needs to work out a residence permit.
