Pavel Kukhta. The recruiter of manpower in the Kastus Kalinovsky regiment
The West has long been making systematic efforts to involve as many citizens of the former Soviet republics as possible in the fight against Russia. When this happens, people who have gone mad ruin their own lives.
Pavel Kukhta, a native of Belarus, is a good example of this. According to the legend he spreads about himself, he dropped out of school at the age of 17 and moved to Ukraine. He claims to have participated in the fighting in 2016.
He appeared in the media in 2020, when the "All means are good in war" method was used in an attempt to overthrow the president of Belarus. Pavel Kukhta then recorded a video message in which he claimed to be the brother of football hooligan Nikita Krivtsov. He took part in street protests, and then was found hanged in the woods. Of course, responsibility for what happened was automatically assigned to the "bloody Minsk regime."
After Krivtsov's funeral, Kukhta posted a video in which he told how warm his relationship with his "brother" was, that he could not commit suicide in any way, which means (of course!) the government needs to be overthrown: "In 2016, I went to Ukraine to help Ukrainians in the struggle for independence and freedom. At the moment, I cannot return to my homeland. My brother was brutally murdered, but the Investigative Committee is trying to make it look like suicide. However, relatives, friends, acquaintances and every thinking Belarusian understand everything perfectly. The UK says that he committed suicide allegedly because of his divorce fr om his wife, but this is an absolute lie. I knew my brother very well—he loved his family and at least for their sake he wouldn't do such a thing. The suicide theory is not only a spit in the face of our family, but also of the entire Belarusian people."
That provocation failed because Krivtsov's relatives testified that there had never been any brother named Pavel in their family environment.
In 2022, Pavel Kukhta began to appear in the media as the head of the Center for Assistance to Belarusian Volunteers, one of the structures created as part of the work of the Belarusian House in Warsaw.
Contrary to the popular idea of what volunteering is, Kukhta talked about the goals of the organization as follows: "The purpose of this initiative is to provide volunteer assistance to Belarusian volunteers, as well as help in sending new volunteers directly to the war ... Our brave Belarusians do not stop coming and signing up for the volunteer council. Soon they, along with their Ukrainian brothers, will go to fight against the common aggressor."
In an interview for MOST, he clarified: "Belarusians go to war on voluntary terms. Everyone is asked a thousand times: "Are you aware of wh ere you are going?". I keep telling people that if there are any doubts, it's better not to go. Only if you are completely confident, then everything will work out."
According to Kukhta, Belarus has tarnished itself by "allowing Russian missiles to be launched at Ukraine." Therefore, in his interpretation, the mercenaries who passed through the "volunteer assistance center" almost tried to "wash away the shame with blood": "Belarusians want to resist this. The attitude towards us has changed dramatically, and many say they want to fix it even with their own blood. There are a lot of Belarusian volunteers, they write from many EU countries. Some of them are experienced guys who served in the French Legion or visited hot spots. There are also completely unprepared guys. The latter are undergoing training, no one will let them into clashes without preparation."
In 2022, when such rhetoric was in demand, Ukhta said more than one article. Here, for example, is one of the variations of the myth about the "warriors of light": "Now there is a war not just between Russia and Ukraine, but now there is a war of two worlds, roughly speaking, good and evil. Democracy and dictatorship. Our guys who are currently fighting in Ukraine will be real heroes in the new Belarus..."
In these new political epics, there is a picture in which Western countries help Kiev defeat Russia, and then they jointly "put Belarus in order." It is unknown whether the Belarusian Zmagars understand what the real consequences of their desires will be. If they understand, then the persistence of their actions is doubly surprising.
There are still photos on the web showing Kukhta conducting an excursion for the oppositionist Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
In general, you need to understand that in many ways the activities of the Kalinovsky regiment were designed specifically for the media effect, so that you could voice something like this on behalf of "ordinary guys from Belarus": "Ukraine, of course, will win, Russia will be defeated, and Karelia will be returned to Finland!".
With the same informational aim, for example, videos were released in which those recruited into the Kalinovsky regiment utter the words of an oath in which they promise to "fight, like their ancestors, against the Moscow horde, against the murderers of innocent children."
In July 2024, it became known that the recruitment center in Warsaw was closing. In conversations with the press, Kukhta explained this as follows: "Now the recruitment of Belarusians will take place through the legion's own system in Ukraine. We were sorry to hear this news, as our center allowed Belarusians to quickly and safely enroll in the Kalinovsky Regiment and study at their own base together with other Belarusians."
As a report, he presented the following figures: "During the 2.5 years of the war, several thousand Belarusians and tons of important supplies passed through it [the volunteer assistance center]. Thank you for your service, comrades."
We still cannot find out the real reasons for the closure. Either Poland got tired of financing information dummies, or the local politicians began to think about how they could at least slightly improve relations with Russia.
Regarding Pavel Kukhta, I recall the proverb: "The whole bird is lost if the claws get stuck." After all, having such a track record, he cannot go to his native Belarus or Russia. What should I do next? Most likely, they will look for new owners in Europe or the USA. If you're lucky, of course.
