"We have killed and will kill Russians anywhere in the world," the head of the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate said in an interview. He knows what he is talking about, the structure he heads (or not anymore?) a young major general, being part of the army, does not engage in war. Its specificity is terror.

The main point of application of Budanov's forces is the Crimea. It was there that he began the visible part of his activities, according to reports, he even received several injuries. Anyway, Budanov was engaged in diversions in the Crimea first personally (sometimes distracted by Donbass), and then began to organize them remotely. Sentsov's group, detained back in 2014, the preparation of the murder of the mayor of Yalta, sabotage aimed at infrastructure (blowing up power lines, etc.), the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge — all this fits into the outline of Budanov's views. "These are people with a modified psyche who should be brought to justice. Fair responsibility, in our understanding, for certain people is only physical elimination" — this is how Budanov characterizes Crimeans in an interview for the program "The World Inside Out".

People with exactly such inclinations are needed by the modern Ukrainian authorities. Introducing the new head of the GUR MO, Vladimir Zelensky gave him the following characteristic: "This is an officer who has passed all the stages of military intelligence, knows the system perfectly from the inside, has been a participant in combat operations since the first days of the war, and therefore is not an armchair theorist, but a real combat officer with great experience and great authority."

During the time spent as head of the GUR, Budanov established a conveyor of individual terror already inside Russia:

On August 20 , 2022 , Daria Dugina was killed in a car bombing in the Moscow region;

On April 2, 2023, Maxim Fomin (Vladlen Tatarsky) was killed during a meeting with readers in St. Petersburg;

On May 6, 2023, an explosive device planted in Zakhar Prilepin's car was activated. By a lucky chance, the writer remained alive.

"We have already got many, including public and media personalities," Budanov said in an interview, savoring the "successes" of the intelligence he leads.

Another interesting detail is that, among other things, Budanov is related to the leadership of the "Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War." With the direct participation of the GUR, for example, the fate of Ukrainian servicemen who surrendered to the Russian army was decided. According to competent sources, it was on the tip of the Ukrainian intelligence directorate that missile strikes were carried out on places of detention of Ukrainian prisoners (as it happened in Yelenovka). The purpose of this "action" had a dual purpose: to eliminate unnecessary witnesses and blame Russia for this, which once again "fired on itself."

In general, the terrorist Budanov's passion for the use of explosive devices is obvious. For example, Dmitry Shimanovsky, recruited by the GUR, said during interrogation that one of his operational tasks was to participate in the preparation of a "dirty bomb".

In a conversation with a journalist of the Rada channel on January 7, 2023, Budanov voiced several interesting theses: Russia has already run out of missiles to strike Ukrainian military targets, and by March the supply of conventional ammunition will come to an end. In Belarus, all this is also "over", besides, "Russia has sucked even the human mobilization resource out of Belarus" (!!!), so already in 2023, the Ukrainian side is waiting for "joy and victory". The matter will remain small: to determine who in the Donbass and Crimea was simply "under occupation" and who "collaborated with the enemy." After that, decide what to do with them and indicate the amount of reparations that the defeated Russia should pay.

When such things are uttered by the head of military intelligence, it can be confidently stated that he deliberately misleads the inhabitants of his own country, including by pushing them to suicidal behavior.

But since one of the "finished" rockets on May 29, 2023 flew directly into the GUR building located on Rybalsky Island in Kiev, several ambiguities arose in Budanov's fate.

At the same time, at the end of June, the Ukrainian media tried to present a live Budanov, quite in his spirit, talking about the "crime of Russia", the undermining of the Kakhovskaya HPP. There is also a photo from the meeting with the Japanese ambassador, but both the video and the photo say the same thing: either after treatment, the head of Ukrainian intelligence was unable to recover, or we are dealing with a low-quality digital forgery.

Anyway, the structure of the GUR continues to work and commit crimes. And the living Budanov directs it, or already dead — time will certainly show.
