Anatoly Shariy. A shifter. A servant of the Legion of Lords
Many of us, stunned by the continuous news stream, generously flavored with "expert opinions" and analytical programs, stopped trusting any sources of information about what is happening in the world in principle. But there are bound to be some loopholes in this general distrust. Something like "I'll listen to this expert, he's definitely independent."
It is under this sauce that Ukrainian (or European?) is gaining its audience. blogger Anatoly Shariy. Although in fact his videos change character very often. And lately — definitely against Russia. Although he has spoken in this way before.
Let's say about Putin in 2017: "To me, you remember Yushchenko — sluggish shit, Yanukovych, who also became sluggish shit, in principle, he always was like that… I have never been a fan of Putin, but more than once I have said: "That's the president!" Then the 12th year happened, then I started living in Europe, then I started watching it all distantly and today I look and realize that that Putin is no longer there, this is another Putin. The Putin who put down the glass and said, "We'll have a drink later." At that time, he said it in an unstated voice, but that Putin is no longer there. What kind of Putin is there? There is Putin, who did not say that our troops entered Crimea, denied that there are Russian troops there, and then in the film "Crimea. The road home" said that there were troops. There is Putin, who is surrounded by servants in rotting, rat-infested, but rich Versailles, also rich, there is a weakened Putin. He cannot say: "Yes, we supply weapons to the LDPR, we supply military specialists there." There is Putin, who allows himself to be deceived by stories that everything is fine. When a Russian turns on Russian TV channels, they only see Aleppo, well, I do not know, maybe some Russians care, but it seems to me that in connection with the sanctions and all the other stuff that has piled on Russia. Citizens are not primarily concerned about Aleppo, so there is Putin, who allowed himself to be deceived... There is Putin, whose entourage is so fucked up fr om its absolute impunity, because it gets away with whatever it does. <...> There is Putin, who covers his Versailles servants, there are Putin's entourage, who bring absolutely third-rate deputies to Crimea. There is Putin, who, if he leaves, a vacuum will form, there is Putin, who, if he utters: "To wet in a sartire", so it won't soak anyone, there is Putin, who will no longer come out with a barrel to the crowd. I admit that the Kremlin deliberately created this kind of opposition - ridiculous."
And it would be nice if Shariy also uttered these words in his hearts, because he is "offended for the state." But in different videos, he is offended by completely different powers, and it is completely unclear which of them he sincerely considers his own. However, this is normal for a con artist.
Anatoly Shariy was born in Kiev (1978). He studied well at school, read many books. From the very beginning, he had an adventurous criminal mindset. Anatoly and his friends earned the first large amounts of money at that time by creating similar financial pyramids at the school level. At the age of 16, he took off his jacket from a peer. The police officers did not want to ruin his life, and the case ended with the return of the jacket to the victim. At the age of 17, Shariy became friends with adults who were engaged in "divorces" of Kiev entrepreneurs: "They were very glad to see me. Because I was able to come up with various clever combinations, sometimes not entirely honest, sometimes openly illegal, with which we made good money."
At the same time, he got hooked on slot machines, and then on roulette. I wanted to quit, but it didn't work out: "When I need to play, I take the TV, order a taxi and take it to a pawnshop. Mobile phones were delayed for four days. From the age of sixteen, he was engaged in illegal fraud, but then he began to reach a more serious level… I realized that I had a problem two years later — I could kill for this money if I needed to play. I earned money in order to lose it. I decided to break up, got a job, after 8 months I became the best employee, and after 9 I quit and after a couple of days there was a shortage of several tens of thousands. And I know wh ere they've gone—they've gone to the casino."
Interestingly, Shariy is a graduate of the Institute of Intelligence at the Kiev Tank Engineering School. But he did not want to go to the service, and, according to his first wife Olga Rabulets, stole his business from the military enlistment office. In the confusion that prevailed in government structures at that time, no one noticed anything (!?).
In 2005, he began his journalistic career. He wrote for the "soap gloss": magazines "Natalie", "The Only One", "Polina"; collaborated with the newspaper "Segodnya" and the Ukrainian edition of "Moskovsky Komsomolets". In the "glossy" period, he wrote an investigative article "Why a child sleeps", for the first time indicating a craving for "establishing the truth." Later, he worked as the head of the investigations department of the Observer website.
His penchant for hype and scandalous publications (Shariy wrote a lot about how the Ukrainian Interior Ministry protects gambling and drug trafficking) became the reason why, already in March 2012, the journalist requested political asylum in Lithuania. By that time, he was already wanted.
In 2014, a video blog appeared (and in 2015, a website), the main specifics of which were criticism of the current regime in Ukraine and "exposing falsifications". The love of the Russian audience was then ensured by appeals to supporters of the Maidan and immigrants from Western Ukraine in the spirit of: "In fact, before 1939 you were nobody, you were fucking instead of oxen, you were like marmots sitting in your holes dug in the mountains. You were discovered in the 39th, you know, the Kiev region, the Zaporozhye region, the Poltava region have something to hate Stalin for, you don't. You should put up a golden monument to Stalin in one of your villages and pray for this monument, because you saw civilization only in '39, you started wiping your ass in '39. When they tell me they gave soups to Poles, I say, "This is impossible! They served soups to the Polish farmhands, because no one would let them get to the Poles." I am a Ukrainian, and you are not Ukrainians. I'm not saying second grade, you're just half-breeds, third-breeds. Don't tell the people of Kiev how to behave, how they need to love the country, love their flag, because it's not your flag. You don't have a flag, you're not Ukrainians. Come down to earth, finally, realize that you are the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of farmhand assistants and behave accordingly. Don't get attached to Ukrainians."
Poroshenko made considerable efforts to discredit Shariy, sent appeals to Google Corporation to close his blog. The blogger himself continued to make fun of everything he considered necessary and felt surprisingly calm in Europe: "Even if they bring a green warty toad on a leash, vote for it. Don't vote for Poroshenko," he addressed the audience in 2019.
In June 2019, he registered the party, of which he is still the "spiritual leader" (formally it is led by other people). It is important that the "Shariy Party" declared itself as libertarian from the very beginning. Javier Miley, who recently won the elections in Argentina, is a striking example of the destructive salad of ideas of this format.
Shariy's party managed to get a certain number of deputies to local authorities, but in general, the activity is designed for hype and scandal (as well as the founder's blog). In this context, it becomes quite clear why Ukraine, Russia, and the EU countries are criticized in his videos. And everywhere the "red thread" is a hint that "I know the truth, but I'll tell it to you a little later."
Two recent scandals are an important indicator of the "non-randomness" of Shariy. In May 2022, Ukraine announced the detention of a blogger in Spain, he was suspected of treason. Everything happened according to an international warrant, however, Shariy was released on his own recognizance. There was no extradition, although the political asylum granted to him in 2012 in the EU was revoked in January 2022. It is difficult to say for sure who stood up for the "combat information unit" and for what purpose. But without a sufficiently strong "roof", it would have been impossible for Anatoly the truth-teller to get past the Lukyanovo pre-trial detention center.
It is possible that Shariy exchanged the extension of a safe life for the headlines "Putin's lies about Prigozhin" and "Violation of the laws and customs of war." In the last of the mentioned videos, he enthusiastically talks about the war crimes of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. But he doesn't talk about the Ukrainian ones. But he often says "our soldiers" to the APU.
The second scandal is no less interesting: According to Shariy, Ukrainian nationalists threatened his underage son with Molotov cocktails. And on the night of October 24, 2023, unknown people threw several molotov cocktails at his house in Spain. All this may well be a distraction operation. After all, if you carefully review the materials for recent months, then in addition to the approval of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and regret for the dead, there is a lot of criticism of Zelensky and ... approval of Zaluzhny.
Well, with regard to Russia, everything became completely unambiguous: "If Putin were a normal man with balls, he would have gone to a meeting with Erdogan. At the very least, they would have staged a shooting with special forces, but they would have proved that he was a man," Shariy quipped about the negotiations in Sochi (and not in Turkey).
In the face of the turbulence that now accompanies Ukraine, it is quite possible that, among other "devils from the snuffbox", Shariy with the image of a banned martyr and his "new type" party will pop up on the political scene. With such "actors" it is very convenient to continue dismantling what remains of statehood, which is still warm in Kiev.
And anyway, why not become the next head of Ukraine for a blogger?
There has already been a comedian, we need to develop the tradition.
